Curing Blankets
Max Katz 3 Layer Insulated Concrete Blanket 6' x 25'
Max Katz 3 Layer Insulated Concrete Blanket 6' x 25'
Max Katz Closed-Cell Insulated Blanket is tough, easy to use- built to take abuse, use and re-use. On job after job, the long-lasting core of soft closed-cell foam with thousands of tiny insulating air pockets, prevents fresh concrete's heat of hydration from escaping too quickly. Heavy duty cover for long life.
Closed-cell insulated blankets to handle the rigors of the job site. Lightweight and easy to handle, the Ma Ka® Closed-Cell Insulated blankets help fresh concrete to cure in cold weather. Fresh concrete has its own heat, called heat of hydration. In many circumstances, if properly trapped and insulated, this heat will be generated in sufficient quantity to be the only source of heat necessary during a 3 day curing cycle.
R-Values
- THE K Factor on microfoam is .27
The formula for R Value is as follows:
- Thickness of blanket ÷ K factor of Insulation = R Value
- 1/2" ÷ .27 = R of 1.85
- 3/4" ÷ .27 = R of 2.77
Due to the fact that Microfoam is manufactured in multi layers which create additional airspace, use the following as a guide for R-Values:
- 2 Layer Blanket = R2
- 3 Layer Blanket = R3
- 5 Layer Blanket = R5
FOR COMPARISON WITH OTHER MANUFACTURE'S METHOD OF TESTING BLANKETS USING ASTM C-518 INCLUDING A 3" AIRSPACE (WHICH DOES NOT EXIST IN ACTUAL JOBSITE APPLICATIONS) WE ESTIMATE THE FOLLOWING R-VALUES:
- 2 LAYER BLANKET = R7
- 3 LAYER BLANKET = R8
- 5 LAYER BLANKET = R15
